The seamless fusion of soulful melodies and hard-hitting rap delivery are just a few aspects of STNDRD’s rapid rise to acclaim in their first 18 months of releasing music. Born and raised in Otara, the 3-man group carry Samoa and South Auckland in everything that they do and have consistently released music that is both positive and uplifting, breaking away from the “norms” of a majority of today’s music which tends to paint a completely different picture.
Having released 13 songs to date, STNDRD shot to success with their 2019 release of My USO which was closely followed by the viral My Uso (Remix) at the start of 2021 featuring other artists of Polynesian descent. The My Uso (Remix) has amassed over 3.3million streams on Spotify and over 4.9million views on YouTube since being released, with many artists and fans alike dubbing the hit single a “timeless classic”, and rightly so. STNDRD then started 2021 with a bang collaborating with HP Boyz’ member HP ONIT on hit single TG which has gained a lot of traction in the 2 months since being released, having already gained 240k Spotify streams and earning STNDRD their first Spotify Editorial Playlist cover on Local Hype.
The PASIFIX Festival held at a packed Sidney Myer Music Bowl in the heart of Melbourne City was STNDRD’s first live performance in April 2021 where they headlined the show and produced a performance to remember with collaborating artists BIGGs 685 and HP ONIT and showed that they have what it takes to captivate and engage a live audience.
With their first 18 months behind them, STNDRD now look to challenge themselves as musicians and artists and to explore different sounds as they progress in their creative journey. Currently working on their debut full length album, it’s safe to say that we can expect the unexpected from STNDRD on this next project.
